Academic Methods

Learn the
method.

Research design, methodology, instruments, analysis and interpretation—so the work remains yours, and you can stand behind it.

p. 01 Draft under review

Can you explain why this method fits this question?

The strongest research is not the research with the most sophisticated terminology. It is the research where the logic can be followed from the question to the conclusion.

The research defence pathway

Every chapter
must connect.

Move through the logic of the study. Each stage should make the next one easier to explain.

01 • Question

Know what you are actually asking.

Problem statement, research question, objectives and variables must point in the same direction.

02 • Method

Choose the design because it fits.

Qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods should follow the question—not fashion, habit or software.

03 • Instrument

Measure what you said you would measure.

Questionnaires, interview guides and coding frames must map back to the constructs and objectives.

Research Instrument
04 • Data

Collect evidence you can explain.

Sampling, ethics, consent, fieldwork and data quality are part of the method—not admin afterthoughts.

06 • Interpretation

Explain what the evidence means.

Findings should be linked to the question, theory, literature and limitations without overstating what the data can support.

07 • Defence

Own the logic.

You should be able to explain what you did, why you did it, what you found, and where the limits are.

DEFEND IT?

Methods Repository

Definitions, methods notes, templates and resources that help researchers navigate the mechanics of the study.

R

Support the researcher.
Do not replace them.

Academic Methods is designed around learning, methodological guidance, analysis support, review and interpretation—not impersonating authorship.

We explain methods. The researcher should understand why a method fits and what its limits are.
We support analysis.Outputs, assumptions and interpretation are made understandable—not hidden behind software.
We review instruments and logic.Questions, variables, constructs and evidence should align.
The work remains yours. You remain responsible for authorship, institutional rules, ethics and submission.
The final question

Can you
defend it?

If the method feels unclear, start there. We will help you understand the logic before the pressure reaches the final chapter.
